“You’re not learning anything if you’re not making mistakes.”
On 28th November 2023 the world lost someone which most would call a living legend, largely a private and unknown individual who unless you follow investing, finance or economics, you may never of heard about.
Personally for me, Charlie Munger was a person I looked up to, someone I’d watch countless hours of on YouTube talking sense, no bullshit, just sound advice. Financially and life in general. It’s funny how you can feel when a ‘celebrity’ passes away, these people can mean a lot to you and you actually feel emotion when they’re gone. I did when I heard Charlie Munger had passed away, he was 99 years old, it’s not shocking but I suddenly had the thought – I won’t watch a new interview or Berkshire Hathaway annual conference again, with Charlie there, giving his blunt and down to earth opinion on all different aspects of life and investing.
I urge anyone, even if you have no interest in investing, to watch a final interview CNBC did with Charlie a couple weeks before he passed, it’s a good hour and 40 minutes long, but even just watch the final 20-minutes it may help to give you some motivation or inspiration like it does me, I’ve put the YouTube video below:
Rest easy, Charlie. Thank you for all the inspiration you’ve given me over the years.
“I constantly see people rise in life who are not the smartest, sometimes not even the most diligent, but they are learning machines. They go to bed every night a little wiser than they were when they got up and boy does that help, particularly when you have a long run ahead of you.”
